Tokyo is not a name synonymous with tranquility. With some 37 million people — making it the most populated city in the world — it easily outnumbers the entirety of Australia, which is only some 26 million. Yet I managed to find quiet pockets for contemplation.

The rain helped. A gentle rain, not at all a problem for walking around. (I’m often told Australians are strange in the way we love being outside in the rain, perhaps…
